I was the Technical Manager / Automation Technician on Guildhall’s Spring Opera Scenes 2022, employing automation in a studio venue that rarely sees it. We used 2 x Stage Technologies BT2-200 Winches and 1 x Triple E Track Drive running in a counterweight-assist setup.
These were used to move three different chandeliers which lit during a climatic moment of the show. We used cable auto-reelers to manage cable in the challenging, low-headroom space.
The installation required thoughtful planning to work in amongst other departments, along with meeting the requirements of the production.
